I see/hear a lot of things about what you should wear to yoga. My preference has already been made clear, but obviously I’m not going to inflict my cellulite on anyone else (unless you’re at my apartment pool in the early hours of the morning, in which case you should deal with it). My first yoga class, I wore a pair of workout pants from Target, a sports bra from Target, and a cotton tank top from Target.
I’m packing to go home, and part of that trip includes as many yoga classes as I can fit in (so I can be super sore on my drive home). When I go to yoga now, I wear… workout pants from Target, a sports bra from Target, and a cotton tank top from Target.
Don’t get me wrong, my friend got us matching Lucy shirts, which are AMAZING. I never knew 100% cotton could feel like that, and I already love cotton. I’d love to live my life in Lululemon and Lucy, but A) I can’t afford it, and B) It’s not really necessary.
Anyway, the fancy yoga stuff is great, but I only care about two things. I have a skin allergy that makes sweating rather uncomfortable, and I have to use a certain lotion, so I generally practice in pants rather than shorts or capris. Also, I hate choking on the neck of my shirt in downward dog, so I tend to go for low-ish, tight-ish tanks. My brother got me a moisture-wicking running tank when I started doing power yoga, and those are certainly nice, but I also have no shame and don’t care if the front of my shirt gets soaked through. (TMI?)
When I’m rich, my entire home will be carpeted in Manduka mats, and I will practice yoga in stylish, comfortable clothes, but until then…
